Attach files you already have, a folder at a time
A document sitting in your library or in SharePoint had to be downloaded and uploaded again before you could use it somewhere else in Normain.
The paperclip in chat and the file fields on a manual input step now open Normain’s own picker, so you can attach from the shared library or from SharePoint, Google Drive and Box, mixed with local uploads in one submit.
Folders can be selected there as well as files. Importing one brings in every supported file inside it and keeps the structure, and a confirmation tells you how many files that is before anything starts.
Also this month: file trees of several hundred rows stay responsive.

Steadier long runs and document processing
A month of work went into the parts of Normain you should not have to think about.
Long extractions see themselves through more reliably, and an answer that cannot be tied to real sources no longer reaches you as a finished result. Large document batches and unusually shaped spreadsheets move through processing that used to slow them down.

Three more file types, and line-level citations for text
Swedish SIE accounting exports, Word templates and macro-enabled Excel workbooks can now be uploaded and analysed like any other document.
Text, Markdown and JSON files now cite by line rather than by page. Open a citation and it takes you to the line or the range it came from, which is the reference someone checking your work actually needs. Files added before this change keep their page references until they are reindexed.

Point a workflow step at what came before it
Telling a step to work from an earlier step’s output meant describing that output in prose and hoping the wording matched.
Type
@in a step’s instructions and Normain offers the steps that run before it, along with the fields of an upstream manual input step. Pick one and it goes in as a labelled reference that survives a rename and follows the project when you duplicate it.Steps can also be dragged into a new order rather than deleted and rebuilt.

Every source behind an answer, and a copy to take with you
Opening the Sources tab dropped you into the first citation. An answer resting on five documents looked much like one resting on a single page.
The tab now lists every file an answer cites, grouped by file, with the pages and the cited passage under each, matched to the numbered marker in the answer.
You can also download the source PDF from the Trust Panel with the highlights drawn into the file, either the cited pages or the whole document. That is the version that goes into a working paper file, or to somebody who does not use Normain.

Label an answer, then filter by it
Approved and rejected covered whether an answer had been checked, and nothing else a team wanted to record about it.
Your organisation can now define its own colour-coded labels and apply them to individual answers from the Trust Panel. Each label carries who applied it, and a whole extraction can be filtered down to the results wearing a given one. Owners manage the set under Labels in organisation settings.

Sign off a published run, control by control
A published run told a reviewer the extraction had finished. Whether a person had checked it was a separate question.
A run now lists every control by name as it works. Approve, reject or flag each one, or send it back with feedback, which answers it again and clears the earlier sign-off. The run list keeps a finished extraction and a reviewed one apart, with a tally of control outcomes.
A publication can also be exported as a PDF report built from one run’s data. The same run always renders the same document, which is what a fixed audit report needs.

Rerun one cell, one row, or just what went stale
Rerunning a question meant rerunning it everywhere, and paying for all of it.
A single row can now be rerun from its row number, and a single cell rerun as it is, without writing feedback first. Change the wording of a question and the answers that came from the old wording are marked on the column header, with the run menu offering to redo just those.

Filled-in forms, and attachments inside emails
Normain now reads the values in a PDF form. Typed entries and ticked boxes come through as extractable, citable content, which covers the questionnaires and signed forms that arrive already completed by another tool. Files already in Normain need reindexing to pick them up.
An Outlook email uploaded as
.msgalso unpacks now, so the body and each attachment become their own indexed source and a contract sent as an attachment is analysed rather than skipped. - New features
Run a workflow again without touching the last run
Running a workflow a second time meant running it over the results of the first, or duplicating the project by hand before you started.
The caret next to Run workflow now copies the whole project, its steps, prompts and reference files, and starts a run in the copy. The original keeps its results as they were. Files uploaded to an input step are left out, so a run that needs this month’s documents asks for them.
A project made from a template also remembers where it came from, and the template icon shows what has changed since.

Export the review trail with your results
The discussion around an answer lived in Normain, and the file you handed to a client carried none of it.
Extraction exports now take an Include comments option, arriving as their own sheet in Excel or a section at the end in Word, grouped by question and marked open or resolved. Deliverable exports leave comments out, since that is the file that goes to the client.

An organisation-wide dashboard
Usage was visible one team at a time, which is not the view an owner needs.
The new dashboard covers the whole organisation: what is being run, by which teams, and what it is consuming. Each widget states the period it is reporting on, so a number on the page is never ambiguous about the window it covers. Extraction results roll up into aggregate statistics as well, rather than having to be counted by hand.

Publish your Workflows
Publications is our biggest step yet toward putting your firm’s expertise in everyone’s hands. Take a workflow you have built, turn it into a simple branded page, and share it across your firm.
You build the page by describing it in a chat, telling Normain how the analysis should run and what it should ask for, with no code at any point. Publish it and share the link with your team. From there, a colleague just opens the page, uploads their documents, and gets back the finished, sourced report an expert would have handed them.

Video files as sources
Normain now supports video. Add a recording to a data source panel the way you would add a PDF, and ask questions of it.
A recorded management interview or a board meeting can sit alongside the documents in the same extraction, and answers drawn from it come back cited with the passage they came from, open to check in the Trust Panel. That evidence trail is what makes a recording usable in work you have to defend later.

A newer model, and sharper citations
Extractions now run on a newer, more capable model. Reasoning on long and complicated documents is better, and so is reading what is inside a chart, which was the weakest part of the old setup.
Citation highlighting improved with it. Click a citation and the highlight sits on the words it refers to, including in scanned documents where it used to land slightly off.

An Org manager role
Owner was doing too much work as a concept. Someone who runs the day-to-day of an organisation needed a way to manage teams and members without holding the keys to everything.
Org manager does that. They can administer teams, members and invitations, while the actions that should stay with an owner stay with an owner. Permissions across the rest of the roles were tightened at the same time, so what each role can reach is narrower than it was.

Project templates
Templates used to stop at a single extraction. Workflows are several steps, and those were being rebuilt by hand each time.
Save a whole project as a template and the steps come with it: the extractions, the order they run in, the deliverable at the end. Start the next engagement from it, swap in the new documents, run. An existing extraction can also be reused as a step inside another workflow rather than copied into it.

Conditional logic in your Extractions
You can now make a question in Normain depend on the answer to another one, so Normain only asks it when it is relevant. A question that does not apply gets no answer, not a vague one manufactured to fill the gap. Set the rule once, and apply it across your whole set of documents. Precision, at scale.

Create a Spreadsheet project from an Excel file
You can now set up a Spreadsheet project directly from an existing Excel file. Simply import the file, and Normain builds the grid for you. From there it works just like usual: add what you want Normain to extract in each column, point it at your documents, and let it do the rest.

Edit a result, and get the old one back
Reviewers have always known things the documents do not say. Until now, fixing an answer meant rerunning the question and hoping for better wording.
Click into a result and edit it. The value you write is the one that appears in the export. Every version is kept, so you can open the history on a result, see what Normain originally produced alongside every edit since, and restore any of them without touching the rest of the extraction.

Cmd+K, and a home for comments
Press Cmd+K anywhere in Normain and search for the project, team or action you want instead of navigating to it.
Comments have their own panel now. Open it to see every comment in the extraction in one list, filter by who wrote it or whether it is resolved, and jump to the result it belongs to. Chasing a colleague’s question used to mean remembering which cell they left it on.

Save the prompts you keep retyping
Most teams have five or six phrasings they trust, and they retype them into every extraction.
Save those as snippets. Type
/in an instruction field and pick one from the list. The wording your team has agreed on stays consistent across extractions, which matters when the difference between two phrasings is the difference between two answers. - New features
Pause a workflow for a human decision
A workflow that runs from documents to finished deliverable without stopping is the right shape for some work and the wrong shape for regulated work.
You can now mark a step so the workflow stops there and waits. Whoever owns that review looks at what the previous steps produced, confirms it or fixes it, and the workflow carries on from that point. Nothing downstream runs on an unreviewed result.
Also this week: rows and columns can be hidden the way they are in Excel rather than deleted.

Export to Word
Alongside spreadsheet export, you can now export a project’s results to an editable Word document, with each question as a heading and its answer below. An optional “with sources” version turns every citation into a real Word footnote.

CSV files, a confidence filter and a sidebar you can arrange
This week is mostly small edges that were catching people.
CSV files are supported as data sources. Extraction filters now include confidence, so you can pull up every answer Normain was less sure about and review those first instead of scrolling for them. Cmd+Enter runs the insight you are editing.
The sidebar is yours to arrange: drag teams into the order you use them, drag the divider to make it wider, and drag a file onto the top-level band to pull it out of a folder.

Normain now names your insights automatically based on what’s in them. One less thing to think about.

Normain Launches API
The Normain API is here. You can now run Normain’s analysis directly from your own software. Set up a secure space for your documents, push them in, run your complex analyses across them to get back a structured, sourced result your systems can use.

A shared library of data sources
The same policy pack, the same annual report, the same set of contracts, uploaded again for every new extraction.
Each team now has a library. Upload a document once and use it in any extraction in that team, with no second copy and no second wait. The library takes whole folders, previews files in place, and handles moves and deletions in bulk rather than one row at a time.

PowerPoint, Outlook emails and web pages as sources
Three more things you can drop into a data source panel.
PowerPoint decks are supported, and a number on slide 14 is citable the way a number in a report is. Outlook
.msgfiles can be uploaded directly, which covers the correspondence that usually arrives as a folder of exported emails. Paste a URL and Normain captures the page, so what you see in the Trust Panel is the page as it looked when you added it rather than a wall of stripped text. - New features
Folders for projects
Projects arrived last week and immediately started piling up.
You can now put them in folders, by client, by engagement, by year, however your team already thinks about the work. Duplicate a project to start the next one from a version that worked, and archive the ones that are finished so they leave the list without being deleted.

End-to-end workflows are now live on Normain
This is the biggest leap Extractional AI has taken since we built the engine itself.
A project is now the top-level home for your work in Normain. It can hold a single extraction, or a workflow: a sequence of multiple steps that runs end to end. Steps can be multiple extractions building on each other, file-input steps or deliverables generated directly from the results of earlier steps. Your existing extractions already live inside projects — nothing needs to be migrated.

This is the biggest update we’ve shipped since our February launch.
Setting up an extraction used to take a few clicks. Now you can build it just by chatting. Tell the chat what you need in plain English, and it sets up the whole extraction for you.

Validate in bulk
Approving 300 answers one at a time was never going to hold.
Select a range and approve, reject or assign the whole selection from the bar that appears. Each result carries its verification status where you can see it, and the counter in the footer tells you how much of the extraction is still waiting on a human. Column filters now work in repeat and single-table modes as well as the spreadsheet, so you can narrow to the questions under review before you start.
Instruction fields also got Cmd+Z, which matters more than it sounds like when you have just rewritten a prompt you preferred.

See what a run will cost before you start it
Two questions came up every time someone pressed Extract on a few hundred rows. How long is this going to take, and what is it going to cost.
Both are answered now. Repeat and spreadsheet runs show an estimate of the credits before you confirm, and once the run is going there is a progress bar with a time remaining next to it. Afterwards, open the credit usage dialog on any extraction to see where the credits went, including the average per insight, which is usually the number that explains a surprise.

GPT-5.5 is now powering Normain
GPT-5.5, OpenAI’s most capable model, is now available on Normain. Expect faster extractions and sharper reasoning on complex documents, with the same source-grounded outputs and Trust Panel verification.

Create one-off data sources
You can now create data sources directly in Normain, no upload needed.
Right-click the data source panel inside any extraction, write or dictate your text, and save. The entry is instantly ready to reference across your extraction, like any uploaded file.
Useful for capturing context that doesn’t come as a document: internal definitions, methodology notes, clarifications from clients, or anything else that usually lives in someone’s head.

Ask a follow-up about any answer
The Trust Panel used to end the conversation. You opened an answer, read the sources, and that was the extent of it.
Now there is a chat attached to the result itself. Ask why Normain concluded what it did, push back on it, or ask it to look again at a specific document. If the answer was not what you wanted, Normain can suggest a sharper version of your question and you decide whether to use it.
Alongside that: images and charts now show in the Trust Panel and the file viewer, data source files preview in place rather than needing a download, and arrow keys move between sources. Extractions can be moved to another team, which until now meant rebuilding them in the right place.

Export with sources references
Choose exactly how source references are formatted when you export an Extraction, so the output matches how you and your team work. Sources can also appear as footnotes directly alongside each insight.

Excel previews in the Trust Panel
You can now preview Excel files directly inside the Trust Panel, alongside PDFs. Verify the source behind any insight without leaving the platform — no downloading, no switching tabs.

Turn results into a Word document
The answers were always the middle of the job. The end of it was a document someone could send.
Normain now writes one. Add a deliverable step, give it your own Word file as the base so the headings, fonts and cover page are the ones your firm uses, and Normain drafts into it from the results of the extraction. You review the suggestions it makes, edit the tables it fills, and download the finished file as Word or PDF.

Keep a SharePoint folder in sync
Point Normain at a folder in SharePoint and it stays connected.
New files that land there are picked up, files removed there are removed here, and the folder structure comes across as it stands. A team’s access can be limited to named sites, so people browse only what they are allowed to see.

Dictate your questions
Press the microphone in any instruction field and talk.
Normain transcribes as you go, which is faster than typing for the long, qualified questions people actually ask of a document set. Useful when you are describing what “material” means for this particular review and it runs to four sentences.

Extractions can search the web
Some questions cannot be answered from the documents in front of you. Who owns this counterparty now. What did the regulator publish last month. Whether the address on the invoice is a real registered office.
Turn on web search for an extraction and Normain can look those up while it works, then fetch and read the pages it finds. You can restrict it to specific sites, so a question about guidance reads the regulator’s own domain rather than whatever ranks well that week. Anything Normain takes from the web is cited like any other source, and opens in the Trust Panel next to the document evidence.

Collaborate on Extractions
Teams can now work through Extractions together.
Assign insights to the right team member, validate against the Trust Panel, and approve or reject reviewed insights directly in the platform. Leave comments, track progress, and follow the full Extraction in real time.

Spreadsheet mode
Normain now has a grid, and it behaves the way you expect a grid to behave.
A spreadsheet is built from two kinds of column. Input columns hold what you already know: a company name, a contract number, a site, anything you would have typed into Excel. Insight columns hold a question, and Normain answers it once per row against your documents. Fill a column of 400 rows in one run, or extract a range you choose.
The rest is the part people ask for first. Arrow keys and Tab move the way they do in Excel, Cmd+Z undoes, you can paste a block straight out of Excel or a chat window, resize several columns at once, drag columns into a new order, filter and hide what you are not looking at. Every answer still opens in the Trust Panel with its sources, same as everywhere else in Normain.

Presence, folder uploads and an email when a run finishes
A few smaller things from the past two weeks.
Long extractions no longer need watching. Normain emails you when the run finishes, with a link straight to it. While a run is going, you can see who else is in the extraction with you and watch their changes arrive live rather than after a refresh, and cards can be dragged into the order you want to work through them.
Uploads take whole folders now, structure intact, instead of one file at a time. The verification filter collapses everything already approved so only the rows still needing a decision stay on screen.

Audit log
Every action inside your organisation is now recorded and readable.
Owners find it under Organisation in settings: who ran an extraction, who invited whom, who changed a role, who removed a data source, each with the person and the timestamp attached. Search it, narrow it to a time range, or export the whole thing as CSV when someone in security or compliance asks for the trail.

Save an Extraction as a template
The same review comes back every quarter, and until now you rebuilt it every time.
Turn any Extraction into a template and it keeps its questions, its formats and its structure. Pick the template when you create the next Extraction, point it at new documents, and run. Templates can be shared with the rest of your organisation, so the version your team agreed on is the one everyone starts from.
